NY PATA Celebrates 60th Anniversary on PATA New York Chapter Day
New York, NY Sept 02, 2022 - NYC Mayor Eric Adams, proclaimed August 30, 2022 as Pacific Asia Travel Association New York Chapter Day in the city of New York.
The Proclamation reads, “From the streets of Chinatown to the Apollo Theater, New York is immensely proud of its reputation as the nation’s melting pot. I am proud to shine a spotlight on the New York Chapter of Pacific Asia Trave Association (PATA New York), which has helped promote tourism between our city and other nations around the world.
On the occasion of its 60th anniversary, I am proud to recognize PATA New York Chapter for its commitment to re-energizing the tourism industry, emboldening travelers, and building international bridges.”
NY PATA members, National Tourism Organizations and guests joined in the celebration of The Proclamation and Anniversary. The 10-course banquet dinner at the House of Joy was held on August 30th.
PATA CEO Liz Ortiguera, in a virtual address from Singapore, congratulated the Chapter and its leadership on its continued success.
Elizabeth Chin, executive director and immediate past-chair (2016-2022), reflected on the journey of New York PATA from when it was formed in the Year of the Tiger in 1962 to the Year of the Tiger in 2022, 60 years later. In the new decade and new era, NY PATA launched its website and to stay relevant, the digitalization of membership management and communication.
Joebert Opulencia, chairman, presented a commemorative plaque to Simone Bassous for her invaluable contributions and dedication in serving as executive director before she retired in December 2021.
Among the many prizes for the lucky draw were 3 airline roundtrip tickets.
